FAQ's

1. Who is eligible?
The clinic is for the uninsured, underinsured, or anyone who can’t afford to see a dentist. Anyone that is 18 years of age or older is eligible to be seen.

2. What services are provided?

The M.O.M program is not meant to provide comprehensive dental care, In order to see the greatest number of people, patients  will receive only one service – extraction, restoration, or cleaning.

3.  Who provides the services?
All services are provided by volunteers who are board registered dental and medical professionals.

4. When is the M.O.M event?
The event will be held on Friay, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 at Hedgesville High School.  Doors open at 6:00am  and patients will be seen on  a first come first served basis.

5. Will transportation be provided to and from the event?

You must provide your own transportation to and from the event.

6. What is the daily process?

The doors will open at 6:00 AM.  The first 500 people will receive an armband and begin the registration process.  The doors will close after the first 500 armbands are issued. Patients will go through registration, medical screening, initial exam, x-ray (if necessary) and then will receive their dental treatment. At-home care instructions will be given upon exiting the building.

7. What items should I bring with me?
Bring a list of your current medications and all known allergies. If you have medications that you need to take during the day, be sure that you bring what you will need while you are waiting.  If you are currently taking anticoagulants or “blood thinners” you must provide a note from your physician that give permission for treatment and verifying that you have stopped taking the medication prior to treatment. Also bring a snack, a book or something else to keep yourself occupied.  This is a long process and will take several hours to complete.

Hedgesville High School is totally smoke free. Smoking will not be allowed in the building or on the grounds.

8.  Can people that don't live in Berkeley County or in West Virginia get assistance?
Yes, there is no  eligibility screening. Anyone who is willing to wait in line for the services can receive them.

9.  Can I have my wisdom teeth removed?
Yes, but it is on a case by case basis.  Generally, the dentists will be able to take out wisdom teeth if it does not require actually putting the patient under.

10.  Can I have more than one tooth pulled?
Yes, again, this is on a case by casis bsis.  But the term one service does not mean one tooth.  It means patients will recieve one of three services - cleaning, restorative, or extractions.

11.  Can I get dentures or bridges?
No, these service will not be availalable.

12.  Do I need to bring x-rays?
No, x-rays will be provided on site.

13.  Can I bring my children?
Services will only be provided for individuals age 18 or older.  This is a long day, and we strongly advise against bringing children.

14.  How will I know where to go when I get there?
Volunteers will be in the parking lot and at Hedgesville High School to direct you where you need to go.
